Niykee's personal highlights include being hand-picked to join Snoop on the YouTube Brandcast, in May 2013, and writing songs, despite the turbulence over the last few years. The songwriting process is an inspiring source for new producers. Niykee listens constantly to music and comes across beats which spark thoughts. "I'll be able to tell within the first 5 seconds if it's a good beat. Once I have an idea in my head and I begin to write immediately." My guitar is on the back of my porch and I just let my lyrics flow. It's usually done within 30 minutes. Niykee states that, as she matures as a singer-songwriter her painful memories from her youth serve as inspiratoin. "Even even if I'm not writing about my life directly the grief of losing my sister and my painful childhood is incorporated into my music," she says. The resulting music is shaped by my experiences and adds a greater meaning, which I find very important. I'd like to be able listen to my music in the next 20 years and be proud of my words.
